Clan forward Buesa joins Sheffield Steeldogs on two-way deal

The Glasgow Clan have released forward Jordan Buesa after he requested to join the Sheffield Steeldogs on a two-way contract.

Buesa, who re-joined the Clan from the Fife Flyers ahead of 2021-22, will spend the rest of the season with NIHL Sheffield.

However, the 22-year-old is still eligible to play for the Clan in the Elite League under the terms of his two-way contract.

In a club statement, a Clan spokesperson wrote: “[Buesa] will be available to play for the Clan when suitable for the player and both clubs. We would like to thank Jordan for all his efforts with the Clan, wish him all the best with the Steeldogs and affirm that the door has been left open for his return in future seasons.”

Buesa, who captained Team GB at the Under-20s World Junior Championship in 2019, has notched 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 210 Elite League appearances for the Clan and Fife Flyers.

Before his two-way transfer to the Steeldogs was announced, he made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Clan this season and recorded one assist.

The Troon-born forward also has eight points (two goals, six assists) in six appearances for S.A.D Majadahonda in the Spanish National League to his name.

Buesa has previously represented the Solway Sharks too, for whom he scored 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 26 appearances across two seasons in the National Ice Hockey League North.

Sheffield are fourth in the National League with a record of 10-3-3- to start the season. The Steeldogs are eight points off top spot, with a back-to-back versus the Swindon Wildcats and Peterborough Phantoms on the docket this weekend.

The Clan, meanwhile, are bottom of the Elite League with a 1-12-3 record. Glasgow face the Coventry Blaze and Manchester Storm this week.
